Italy Travel Blog Introduction: Expectations

I have no way to know what to expect for this trip. I've never left the country, I've been to only ten different states in my life. I've never been in the Northeast or to the West Coast. I can't wait to bust out of this country and start to see the rest of the world. I certainly expect to be lost and confused on several occasions but it will be hard to get me down since every "inconvenience" is an inconvenience in Europe. The great food, totally different culture, history, architecture, almost everything that I encounter will be a totally new experience for me. I want to treat this trip like an adventure and an adventure needs adventurous activities, I want to push the limits of my comfort zone and experience things that I will surely remember for the rest of my life. Living in America my entire life has done a poor job of preparing me. Our media is full of cliches and assumptions, there's no way for me to decipher what's true and what's not without witnessing it myself. My family and friends in the states will be sorely missed, especially my fiancee, but I'll be back with many tales to tell.
